Danielle Lurie is a versatile musician, active both as a bassoonist and as a composer. She is
currently completing her Master’s degree in Composition at the University of Music and
Performing Arts Munich, studying under Prof. Jan Müller-Wieland, as well as a Master’s
degree in Bassoon at the University of Music Freiburg with Prof. Henrik Rabien.

Her compositions have been performed by renowned ensembles worldwide, including the
Bruckner Orchester Linz, Meitar Ensemble, and Volta Ensemble. Lurie has received
composition commissions from the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich, Ars Electronica, the
European Holocaust Memorial Foundation in Landsberg am Lech, the Ben-Haim Research
Center in Munich, and the project Composing Memory in Israel.

Lurie is also active in writing music for theater. She participated in the Playlist project of
Ludwig Maximilian University and the Münchner Kammerspiele. Her own theatre
productions have been presented at venues such as Reaktorhalle München, LMU
Studiobühne, and the Münchner Volkstheater.

In addition to her work as a composer, Lurie performs as a freelance bassoonist with
orchestras in Germany, Israel, and the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra at the Aix-en-Provence
Festival.

She has received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Orlandus Lassus
Scholarship from the Rotary Club Munich-International, the Deutschlandstipendium, and the
Excellence Scholarship of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation (Keren Sharett) in both
bassoon and composition. She is also a prizewinner in competitions such as the Wolf
Durmashkin Composition Award and the Mark Kopytman Composition Competition.
